Quillo Books is a small, independent press making books of many kinds, the kind worth keeping.

We started with a simple belief: the best books are the ones a person comes back to, read aloud or read alone, until the words are worn smooth and some of them are known by heart. Stories with warmth and a little humor, and characters worth meeting again. Those are the books we want to make.

We’re starting with picture books, the ones a child would ask for again the next night. More books of many kinds are in the works: original stories; beloved classics, gently retold and freshly illustrated; and folktales from older and farther-flung traditions, including the ones we grew up with, brought to life for readers a long way from where they began.

We’re small on purpose. We publish a few books a year, and if a book of ours ends up dog-eared, read to pieces, and asked for again, we’ve done our job.
